View Full Version : Religion
i'm just curious if there is any particular faith or religion you practice, if any at all. hope i'm not delving too personal here, i was just wondering.
oh and if anyone else would like to add, be my guest. myself, i am agnostic.
oh and if anyone else would like to add, be my guest. myself, i am agnostic. Yeah, me too. We as humans do need to believe in something. I have all the respect for people who do (try to) find themselves in a god or other forms of religion. But I rather draw my strength and guidance from my own logic and experiences and from the people and stories around me now and from my past. That has always worked best for me.
indeed.^ and on that note, i have no problems with personal spirituality, or someone having an individual, private "relationship" with whatever god they seem to believe in...but i really dislike organized religion. seems like it has done more harm in the world then good.
i mean, i've never heard of an atheist strapping a bomb on themselves and killing innocent people in the name of Allah; or someone else condemning homosexuals and people of different ethnicity for the sake of Christian fundamentalism.
needless to say, it's not like all people of a specified faith can be attributed to this, but clearly on a lesser note, religion can manipulate and inhibit people in ways that just don't seem right.
but hey that's me...
I used to work for a dutch kids show at the evangelion channel. There were people there who disliked me purely because I didn't believe in god. People who never once took the chance to get to know me.
Thankfully the people I worked with couldn't care less if I did or didn't. The four presentors of the show were the coolest of the bunch. After the show got cancelled I held the record of being part of the most shows of anyone, having done every episode of their second and third season. So I've gotten to know them pretty well. And they never thought any differently of me for not believing.
If they can leave me in my value, I can leave them in their value.

i was raised to believe in the fact that there is something/someone superior then us. and that i had to find my own believes and faith. christian was just always something i felt the most closest to:)
that's cool then, i'm glad you were given a fairly open decision.
i was raised to believe in the fact that there is something/someone superior then us. and that i had to find my own believes and faith. christian was just always something i felt the most closest to:) I do believe there is more in this universe then science (or what we understand of science) can explain. I do leave myself open for posibilities. I am not afraid to say that I don't have all the answers. But then they do say that the importaint stuff lies in the search for the answers, not the answers themselves.
I have no problems with people believing in a god or whatever. I can totally respect that. What I do hate is people trying to convert me to their believes. And not respecting my views, because it doesn't fit into what they believe.
indeed.^
hey rtf, don't know if you've seen this video, but if not, check it out. funny stuff:

Hi All; I have to agree with both you and Teri on what you said. There are many things which exist in the universe as a whole which our present sceinces simply can't provide answers too, and yes you're quite right as well about those people that want you too see things the way they do,they certainly can be a royal pain in the --- fill in the blanks.
That's why a lot of people have decided to take the spirituality route now a days.
Like most I saw which replied to the thread I was born RC, and also studied assorted other faiths here and there, which when you look at things locically all more or less say the same thing in one way or another.
Unlike most however having always had a powerful driving thrist for knowledge, in finding my path as it were I ended up becomming what is known as a lightworker and then for personal reasons , I decided to take things still a bit further and got rebaptized and finally moved too ,became ordained as well though for strictly spiritual reasons.
Hi there, and welcome to the board Nick!

Like rtf said, as long as it's what you think important and needed to be done then it's all that matters.
A lightworker is a person who feels inspired to help others through spiritual meditation, teaching, healing, prayer, writing and speaking through unconditonal love.
And an ordained is a person invested with ministerial or priestly functions.
Hope this helps! :)

Absolutely right on all accounts, though it is not generally known the name priest is really merely a title. What it really is, is just another word for a type of teacher.
Lightworkers for the most part tend to deal with matters of spirituality and helping one finding ones path so to speak. Lightworkers also work with people of all faiths and denominations.
You might want to think of them as being sounding boards for helping people in getting answers to what are generally considered as being the BIG questions so to speak.
Lightworkers generally work with energy as well which is why some are compelled to become ordained, as said they are vested with prieslty duties but the truth of the matter is along with ordination ones energy level changes dramatically. On ordination the energy level attained is 22.
The BIG questions are of course The Who am I ,What am I and of course why am I here and naturally for what purpose?

Hi Terri;
If that was what you felt in your heart at the time, then it certainly was the proper thing too have done and congrats on being a mom. You might also like to know that more and more people are getting baptized yet a second time when they are old enough to understand what it means.
Baptism is however quite a Christian thing, though the first people to do water baptisms were in fact Jewish, with john the baptist which christianity eventually adopted through Christ once the baptist had baptized Him as being the first christian.

:) Yeah I was born and raised RC, I know a bit about the subject from various theology and other assorted courses I took, but I'm not into any one religion per say. Spirituality would be more of what I'm into. I find religion too subjective where as the second option is far broader reaching. I retained the Christian aspect but no longer have a specific denomination.

No muslims on here?
I bet a poor old Muslim would drop dead of a heart attack when they see some of Terri's pictures.
They get turned on when some girls slips a nudey arm from outside of her burqa.
I am Agnostic or whatever it is.
