View Full Version : What's up with the hackers hacking MySpace?

In just one day, I have noticed that a friend of mine and Terri have had their MySpace accounts hacked. And I have seen that many other profiles out there have been hacked too. So it makes me wonder, what's up with the hackers hacking MySpace?

Really, don't they have anything else to do than hacking a poor MySpace profile? What are their reasons to do so? I can still understand if they hack a paying website to get free stuffs but a MySpace profile?

Come, join and share your thoughts on the question! :)

What I noticed about 'Terri's Bulletins' was that whoever it was pretty much knew who Terri is. Enough to make me wonder if the person hacking her MySpace and her old board may be the same person behind it perhaps? :(

Have you noticed that the spammers here have also so far only attacked Terri's forum and not the others? :(

Her old board has been hacked? What happened? It could be the same person indeed, but if so, why would he do it, that is the question? Hacking a paying website to get its contents for free, alright, it's understandable but a message board or a MySpace profile... for what?

And yes, I have indeed noticed the spammers attacking Terri's forum only. Maybe some wise guys hating her? How could it be? :(

Her old board has been hacked? What happened? No not hacked, but certainly attacked with the high number of spam on her board!

Oh spams... spams sucks! :( Problem is, most of them are bots, and the people who send them are proud of it too.

Can't you get rid of the bots? Sorry, I'm not an expert in the issues. :o A bot is basically a short pre-programmed piece of software that is asked to perform certain activities. Once programmed it more or less goes off on its own. I know they are working on ways to trace them back to the source and stuff. But at the moment all you can do is find ways to protect yourself from them.

One way is to use a confirmation code to enter your account. A confimation code gives a picture with a code in it, which (to date) a bot can't read, since it can only read binary text. People can see the picture, read the text and then enter that code. But not every program can use it. So I'm not sure if the type of board we use here can.

Of course, behind every bot there is a person that has send it in the first place. As long as they are determined to send them out there, the problem won't go away. There is even a new generation of bots that now doesn't only register and create a single post, the new ones seek out other threads and start replying to existing threads and spam those! Several boards I visit have been attacked by those. The only way to stop them is to prevent them from registering. So they have either included the confirmation code to the registration page, or have set their sites to accept each new member manually.

It is only a matter of time before the bots out grow that too. :(

Damn, that's one hell of a new generation of bots!!! Let's just hope the place won't be attacked by them or else, it's going to be a real mess! :(

By the way, is it possible that they get installed on a computer like Terri's and then, just register on any forum she is on? It would explain much why, spams have been posted only in here.

It would explain much why, spams have been posted only in here. It's not very likely, but it is possible. If this is all coming from the same person, my bet is that it is done consciously, rather then by any online bot.

If so, then, my guess is that there's a bot installed on Terri's computer. Because, why would there be spams here and not in Anita's, Shay's or Lisa's area? :)

As you say, if it is from the same person, he or she must be real sick and must have much time to spare to do so. Poor guy or girl! :o

As you say, if it is from the same person, he or she must be real sick and must have much time to spare to do so. Poor guy or girl! :o It could be a little prick who may have had his heart crushed by Terri in some way, and that he is our for this form of revenge... Or just someone who doesn't care and just targeted her for the heck of it.

The board I mentioned earlier is the board of Hollywood Producer Don Murphy. Until recently he had his board spammed by bots leading people to all types of morgage and x-rated sites. There is no sane reason why you would spam that board, and certainly not to spam it with that type of content, since the people on that board isn't even the target audience for those sites. But it was hit for reasons unexplained. :(

The only reason would be the wide audience it has so, spamming it would bring some hits to the websites being publicized. But indeed, the audience targeted isn't the same not to mention that on Don Murphy's, for sure, there are some kids hanging around. :(

for sure, there are some kids hanging around. :( With a certain Michael Bay movie hitting theaters across the globe on july 4th, there are more then a few under aged kids hanging around there.

Yes, indeed. Hope it's going to be a good one! Meanwhile, let's get back to the thread! :)

What do you think about the issues of the hackers hacking MySpace? Personally, I don't see a reason for them to do so besides revenging someone on something. :o

Yes, indeed. Hope it's going to be a good one! Meanwhile, let's get back to the thread! :) Peter Cullen is Prime! Frank Welker is almost certain to be Megatron again. That (them being the voices from the original 1984 cartoon) is enough for most people to just go and see it at least once. The teaser trailer last december was the most hit teaser on Yahoo ever! Beating the record Spider-Man 3 had set in the weeks before within 24 hours!!! Within a week it was 2.000.000 hits ahead of Spider-man 3. I'm gonna say it will be a hit.

What do you think about the issues of the hackers hacking MySpace? Personally, I don't see a reason for them to do so besides revenging someone on something. :o It's not the first time it has happened to someone and it won't be the last. It could have nothing to do with the spammers. I just find it one heck of an coincident. I was tipped off something wasn't right, when I couldn't find Terri on that webcam site. So we immediately knew something was wrong. I've already adviced her to contact the people of MySpace, and have her change her password. It is a damned violation of her privacy. Not to mention that it will certainly bring doubt to the people who have added her to their friends, but don't know her all that well.

If this is a personal vendetta against Terri herself, I think this is sick. There are people who think treating people like this is fun, because 'it's just the internet'. But the net is also a means of communication between people. Which means that this type of action is VERY personal. If there is more behind it than that, it may just be even sadder, because someone has chosen to resort to these types of actions. Probably because they know how strong of mind Terri can be. So instead of facing her with what they are hung up about, they resort to this. Then they are cowards and don't even deserve our attention.

The internet is one of the greatest tools we humans have created in this new age we live in. But it can also be a damned curse in the hands of the weak minded.

Personnally, when I saw the way the bulletins were posted and how much it was posted, I knew there was something wrong since, I have other ladies who has posted bulletins and none have posted like those. I thought to contact her but, going through MySpace at the time, wouldn't be smart I guess as the hacker would have change the password. Contacting her through here would be possible, but I was afraid to be seen badly since, she barely knows me. :o

It would have been cool though, after all these years. :( Yeah, but guys like Chris Latta are no longer with us. And from a business stance point of view (and especially from the studio's) they want some star power in there too. And you gotta look at this movie from a movie point of view and not one one as a fan. Because then you will deprive yourself from the experience that this movie is going for. After 23 years, I'm glad there is a life action movie at all! They made an initial 3 movie deal for this, with the intent to make even more. So there is plent of chances to go around after this one.

But if I was wrong, I would have never forgiven myself! ;)

Next time there is something similar like this, and you still hesitate to contact Terri personally. (Though I can tell you that she is very much down to Earth without any diva-esque attitudes) PM me here. Terri has grown to be a dear friend of mine, and I have no problem to serve as her middle-man in these type of cases. Besides, I am still a moderator here. And as such I do serve as some sort of representation for the people here.

Kisses,Elly Jaine. Especially when you meet a certain profile, like working in the adult industry, they think it is funny to mess with you... :(

And there is little you can do, besides changing your password. The only thing I can advice you on that is to try and not make it easy on them to crack it. Make the password longer then 8 characters. And try to make it have at least two number characters and two letter characters. The should make it more difficult on them.

How are you doing? Feeling better? http://serv2.imagehigh.com/imgss/4894166_icon_biggrin.gif It is deeply sad that some bored guys find it wise to go out there and hack profiles, forum boards, websites, etc... just for the fun. Really, I don't know what's in their mind when they do so since I don't find it funny at all. http://serv2.imagehigh.com/imgss/4894171_icon_evil.gif After that, besides changing your password here and there, all I can suggest you is to do what rtf told you. Make your password longer with different kind of characters so it is harder for them to hack. http://serv2.imagehigh.com/imgss/4894172_icon_yes.gif

I noticed you like wrestling in the General Talk! forum so I thought I would make a little something here. :p

As for the Royal Rumble, I have my money on Kane (haven't seen him much these last months) for this year though, I think it would be someone else like the cocky Randy Orton.

But in other odds, it would be nice to see either Shawn Michaels, Jeff Hardy or Chris Benoit pick up the win for the main event at Wrestlemania.

rtf
01-26-2007, 01:24 AM
Shawn Michaels, Edge and Randy Orton will most likely be involved in a three-way fued, which I think will cause them not to win this. The odds on fav. is the Great Khali, but you know odds on fav's barely make it half way through, let alone make it to the end. My top 5 picks for this are; Undertaker, Finlay, CM Punk, Kevin Thone or Kenny Dijkstra. Undertaker has a good thing going with Mr. Kennedy. last week's could also create some bad blood between him and Batista, which would make him a strong candidate to headline another WrestleMania against either or both for the championship. The other four have the talent to break through in the business and have the skill to survive the Rumble.

Now, let's leave it at that, before Terri threatens to twist something off from us for straying off topic too much... :o
(Though I think she would love Ariel, Kevin Thone's manager, quite alot. A vampire-esque woman who loves to hang upside down from the ropes, is totally up Terri's street! :) )

But to finish things here, I would see either the Undertaker, Kane, Randy Orton, the Great Khali and Kenny Dykstra. ;)
