Sex education for students on the web
Amsterdam - To make students aware of the risks with sex via the internet, an online education package has been introduced for middle grade schools (equal to junior high school)
According to the creators of the education package in 'online love' or 'cybersex', their angle is that sex and romance through the internet is fine, but that it can also go wrong. In eight lessons the teenagers will take notice of the boundries of themselves and of others on the internet.
The education package can be downloaded for free at www.internetsoa.nl/lespakket (http://www.internetsoa.nl/lespakket). Inside of it, amoungst others, there will be a comic about a girl that is videochatting with her friend. He asks her to show her breasts, but she lets him know that she's not ready for that. "When he shows to be disappointed, she does it anyways. With the use of these images, the students are encouraged to discuss what their own erotic boundries are on the web" explain the creators.
The new education package is a continuation of the succesful youthcampaign Internetsos.nl and is made by foundation mijnkindonline (my child online) of KPN. (Dutch leading telecom and internet provider)
Previous research showed that out of 11.000 youths, erotic chat- or webcam sessions has taken in an importaint part of the relations and sexual devellopments of youths between the ages of 12 and 18 years old. Online flirtations have been experienced as being fun, but mostly girls between 12 and 15 appear to have difficulties saying 'no', and sometimes go further in their sexual interaction than they really want to.
