Tom Petty?!?!?!
I must say, awesome taste in music. Sure, Bon Jovi brings it down a bit (besides Living On A Prayer, I hate Bon Jovi with a passion), but anyone that loves Petty has got to have a brilliant taste in music. He is only beaten by Stiff Little Fingers in terms of awesomeness.
What's your favourite Petty song then? Mine's Free Fallin', can't have a Friday night without putting it on the juke box
Also wondering, seeing as you like Tom Petty, have you heard of the Traveling Wilburys?
(besides Living On A Prayer, I hate Bon Jovi with a passion)
:p Okay, I'll hold him down, and Charlie you can hit him where it hurts! :p
(Never say to a young woman you hate the idol she loves) ;)

I can enjoy Livin' On A Prayer, but that's only because it's on at near enough every damn party, and it's an alright track. Now that I come to think of it, Everyday is good as well. But that's just two song out of , like, loads.
You can do worse than Bon Jovi, I suppose. Near enough anything that's come out of the UK in the past couple of years is just indie crap, and all of it sounds the same. Crap instruments, awful lyrics, and the bands themselves are twats.

I listen to a variety of stuff:
Stiff Little Fingers
The Clash
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
The Prodigy
Pendulum
Sub Focus
CKY
Avril Lavigne
Beastie Boys
2Pac
Phil Collins
The Who
Jimi Hendrix
Flogging Molly
Green Day
Blink 182
Tenacious D
Traveling Wilburys
AFI
AC/DC
Scratch Perverts
The Game
The Offspring
Quite a variety of stuff, really. Though lately I've been listening to more Drum 'n Bass tunes, especially while driving, though I still listen to other stuff too. Highway Companion is probably my most listened to album while driving.
To be fair on Bon Jovi, there are worse things out there (like Keith Chegwin).

Cool! I don't see much of people listening to a variety of music lately. Most of the people I know listens to a couple of genres but that's it.
On my way, I also listen to a variety of music mostly mainstream hip-hop/rap, pop/rock, R'n'B and dance/techno. I also listen to some bit of hard rock/metal but it depends on whom and which bands. Until now, my favorite is Linkin Park and others I listen to is Evanescence, Metallica, Limp Bizkit... that's what coming to my mind.

When it comes to music, I need a variety or else I get bored. I only used to listen to bands like Bowling for Soup, Alkaline Trio, Blink 182, Sum 41 etc, but then I got bored and started listening to rap, dance and even stuff in the charts. The only genre I don't like is indie, while I like Oasis and some Arctic Monkeys stuff I really hate bands like The Kooks, The Zutons, Kaiser Chiefs, Magic Numbers, Franz Ferdinand and the like. It's just completely poor music in every sense of the word.
Limp Bizkit were quality back in the day, though I think they butchered Behind Blue Eyes. Rollin is an immense tune though

I mostly listen to stuffs that gets on T.V. but for a year or two now, I have been listening to other stuffs too.
Though I'm not a fan, I like a few songs from Oasis, Blink 192 and Sum 41.
Limp Bizkit were definitely quality back in the day. Behind Blue Eyes was a good tune though different from The Whos in my opinion. Rollin' was and is still an immense.

I hate it because they completely miss the point of the song. And The Who's version is completely legendary and should never be edited
I have had the most boring Friday in several years  :(
I also like The Who and the other intellegent rockers from the UK; Pink Floyd and The Moody Blues. I feel that along with The Stones They have done much to shape rock music today.Of course I can listen to Do-wop and Motown all day too:)

Damn you're lucky, I'd love to see him live. I don't really know anyone else that appreciates his immenseness, so I'd have to see him alone :(
What stuff did he play? Mostly old or mostly new?

Classic rock > Modern rock IMO (hate to sound like I'm sucking up, but it's true).
I feel that the whole spirit of rock has died in recent years, it's now as fake and manufactured as stuff like rap. But while I hate rich people bragging about money, it still beats all the new emo and indie crap that are in the charts. I prefer rock with real emotion and feeling. Give me Stiff Little Fingers, Hendrix, The Clash or Tom Petty over any of the new stuff anyday, even the likes of Bruce Springsteen (who is a legend IMO).

At least the worst you have to put up with is the likes of My Chemical Romance. You should pray that indie never takes off in the USA, it has produced some of the worst bands of all time. There's this one band called The Hoosiers - they sound like Oasis for toddlers, yet they're really popular. One of their songs is on an almost constant loop at my job, it makes me glad I'm going to uni in two weeks
